Durham Region, one of Canada’s growing economic communities, is made up of the cities of Oshawa and Pickering; the towns of Ajax and Whitby; the Municipality of Clarington; and the townships of Brock, Scugog and Uxbridge.

As the largest geographic municipality in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), Durham Region has one of the fastest growing populations in Canada, with approximately 650,000 residents in 2013 and a forecasted population of around one million by 2031.

Economic Development and Tourism Division

The Economic Development and Tourism Division’s priority is to lead, facilitate and advance Durham Region’s efforts for continued economic growth, job creation, and revitalization throughout the region.

Durham Region’s Economic Development office acts as the central point of contact for attracting new business investment, representing the eight communities that make up the Region of Durham. Business retention and expansion is achieved through key partnerships, supported by educational institutions and a variety of economic development partners at the municipal, regional, provincial and federal levels.
