2016 Durham Region Film Festival (DRFF)

Sept. 16 - 18, 2016

About the 2016 DRFF

Building on the success of the inaugural 2015 Durham Region Film Festival (DRFF), the 2016 DRFF will bring interesting films from around the world.

For the second year of DRFF, submissions were opened to filmmakers all over the world to enter for chance to be selected as an official screening of the festival and win awards in categories like best animated short, best feature and best regional film.

Throughout its three-day duration, DRFF will offer film screenings and a family-friendly day at the Docville Wild West Movie Set. Attendees will have an opportunity to see how a movie is made from script to screen and attend creative workshops. Taking advantage of Durham’s cultural landscape, the film festival will have screenings at the elegant Regent Theatre, its distinctive Docville Wild West Movie Set, the vibrant RMG and the historical St. Francis Centre for Community, Arts & Culture.

DRFF continues to grow and become an integral part of the local and international film culture as we aim to create experiences that bring people together through the art of cinema, and foster a community that is more artistic, engaged and enlightened. DRFF offers the magical experience of film both on screen and behind the scenes to audiences. We want to inspire filmmakers, movie buffs and the curious-minded with our script-to-screen programming and extraordinary stories we create.
