DRT and GO Transit partnership to “move” our workforce.

Durham Region Transit (DRT) provides service to almost 10,000,000 passengers annually, and recognizing ridership demand for destinations outside of the region, implements routes with Toronto connections. As of Fall 2012, the combined conventional and specialized fleet (30 lift-equipped buses) totals 209 vehicles.

In 2013, DRT launched its first bus rapid transit (BRT) service. DRT Pulse operates on the Hwy 2 corridor between Oshawa and the Scarborough U of T campus and includes 7.5 minute frequency during peak periods and advanced IT technologies to reduce travel time.

In 2014/2015, DRT anticipates its fleet will be 100% accessible designating accessible buses for specific routes and offering inclusive transit options for persons with disabilities.

DRT operates 73 routes and integrates additional service with GO Bus along the Hwy 2, Hwy 12, Hwy 401 and Hwy 407 corridors with a “One Fare Anywhere” agreement with GO Transit so customers can transfer between DRT and GO Bus without additional cost.

Fare integration with GO Transit continues to provide reduced transit costs for commuters. DRT passengers connecting to/from GO Bus and GO Train service at Rouge Hill, Pickering, Ajax, Whitby and Oshawa GO Rail Stations are eligible for a co-fare discount.
